Have you ever heard of sudden cardiac arrest? Unlike heart attack, sudden cardiac arrest is a condition where the heartbeat stops suddenly. This condition occurs because of an internal electrical system disruption in the heart that disrupts the blood pumping and stops the flow of blood in your body. If not treated immediately, sudden cardiac arrest can result in death (sudden cardiac death). Administration of CPR or defibrillators can increase the chances of life for patients with cardiac arrest.

As we know, heart-related diseases are indeed very deadly. Regardless of age or sex, heart disease can affect anyone and anywhere. Heart-related diseases such as stroke or coronary heart disease are the highest causes of death, especially in Indonesia. Heart-related diseases also haunt other countries including United States.

In the United States, heart disease is responsible for around 325,000 adult deaths each year, especially in black women. Blacks are known to have a 3 times higher risk of sudden cardiac death compared to other races. Many studies that have been done showed that the risk of heart disease is very high for black people.

Based on research conducted by the American Heart Association (AHA), they tried to explain why this could happen. In this research, it was explained that cultural and socio-economic differences became one of the factors that could increase this risk. In addition, factors such as education level and income, as well as a history of hypertension or diabetes make black women have a higher risk of heart disease.
