Taking a nap can help lower your blood pressure

Anyone must have felt tired during the day that they want to close their eyes, even just for a moment. Especially for those of you who have lots of activities in the morning, napping is one way you can do to 'recharge' your energy. Not only that, napping turns out to also have a positive effect on health. A study conducted by Asklepieion General Hospital found that napping can help lower blood pressure.

It was found in the research that napping can reduce blood pressure by up to 5mmHg. The researchers claimed that the decline could reduce the risk of heart-related diseases. A decrease in blood pressure of 2mmHg can reduce the risk of heart attack by 10%.

In the research, the researchers observed 212 participants who had an average blood pressure of 129.9 mmHg. Half of the participants were asked to take a nap while the rest became control group. For more than 24 hours, the researchers recorded the blood pressure of each participant and the duration of their naps.

In the presentation at the American College of Cardiology's 68th Annual Scientific Session in New Orleans, the researchers revealed that if a person take a nap, it can provide many benefits, especially for those with high blood pressure.
