Reduce your appetite with a mealtime strategy

Having an ideal body is everyone's dream. To achieve this, there arevarious ways that can be taken, including undergoing various diets. Unfortunately, not all diets can produce results, because each person has different body conditions. But don't worry, according to a recent study published in the Obesity journal, researchers find other ways to overcome the problem.

According to one researcher, coordinating food with the circadian rhythm (internal body clock) can be a powerful strategy to reduce appetite and improve metabolic health. This strategy can help someone in reducing and maintaining their weight. Not only that, this strategy is also known to help burn fat in the body.

Early Time-Restricted Feeding (eTRF) is a daily fasting strategy, where a person only has 6 hours in the afternoon to eat while the rest is fasting time. The results of the research showedthat the strategy could help reduce the production of the ghrelin hormone which is responsible for regulating hunger and increasing fat burning in the body for 24 hours.

In the research, the researchers analysed 11 adult men and women who had excess body weight, weighing 68-100 kg. Participants were asked to undergo two mealtime strategies; 12 hours of eating periods (8:00 to 18:00) and 6 hours of eating periods (8:00 to 14:00). Each participant still had three meals a day with the same portion and type of food with a treatment period of 4 days. To measure metabolism, the researchers used a respiratory chamber, a tool that can measure how many calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins that have been burned. The researchers also measured their appetite every 3 hours and measured the ghrelin level in the morning and evening.
