Healthy teeth and mouth can reduce the risk of Alzheimer's

Dental treatment is necessary to prevent the growth of bad bacteria in the mouth. You are advised to undergo routine dental treatment at least once every 6 months. According to one advisor for the American Dental Association, Sally Cram, oral and dental health can reflect the overall health status of the body.

There have been many studies that show how important oral and dental health is for the body. It turns out that healthy teeth and mouth can also reduce the risk of heart-related diseases and Alzheimer's. Being a place of entry and processing of food, making the mouth and teeth often overgrown by various kinds of bacteria that can cause disease. According to a recent study conducted by The University of Bergen, oral and dental hygiene has a relationship with the risk of Alzheimer's.

In the study, it was found that gum disease can increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease. One of the causes of gum pain, the Porphyromonasgingivalis bacteria, is known to move from the mouth to the brain and produce proteins that can damage nerve cells in the brain. This can lead to decreased memory ability and lead to the risk of Alzheimer's.

For those of you who have a history of gum disease or peridontitis before, then you are highly recommended to do dental care regularly. This is done with the aim of reducing the risk of various diseases that can occur due to unclean teeth and mouth. Brush your teeth at least twice a day, and use dental floss to minimise leftovers left between teeth.
