Beautiful Flowers for a Healthier You

The benefits of flowers go beyond decorations and aromatics. The Chinese, for example, have been using flowers as part of their cuisine since hundreds of years ago. Every flower has different vitamins, minerals, and natural contents. In other words, each has a specific health benefit.

Infusing flowers in your diet must be done carefully as well. Pick ones labelled edible and grown without pesticides. Make sure to wash them thoroughly before consumption.

Here is a list of some edible flowers and their health benefits, as cited from Spoon University.

  1. Roses
Roses, women's favourite, are apparently good for feminine issues, such as irregular menstruation. They are also good for digestive issues, pain relieve, nausea, fatigue, and prickly heat. The antibacterial property is also good to treat acne.
Roses have numerous variants, which make their tastes hard to explain. Each rose has a different flavour based on where and how it was grown. Having said that, most roses taste sweet. The darker the colour, the stronger the taste.
  2. Pansy
Pansy has a sweet earthy flavour, which works well when incorporated into salad dishes. This blue-purple flower has good antibacterial properties. It is also good for arthritis, skin and scalp problems, epilepsy, asthma, and high blood pressure.
  3. Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemum tea is good to alleviate flu symptoms: fever, sore throat, dry eyes, and stuffy nose. It can also support digestive system, lower cholesterol, and prevent coronary heart disease.
