6 Leaves to Eliminate Unpleasant Body Odour

There are several factors that can trigger and influence unpleasant body odour. Among others are genetic factors, certain type of food (jengkol, petai), too much consumption of caffeinated beverages and alcohol, and also poor hygiene. Those will increase the activity of sweat glands; mixed with bacteria, the result is unpleasant body odour. To manage unpleasant body odour, one can utilise deodorant and body spray.

Having said that, do you know that there are certain types of leaves that can effectively repel body odour? Here are six types of leaves that you can use to naturally get rid of unpleasant body odour.

  1. Guava Leaves
    The use of guava leaf is indeed quite effective in removing body odour. Guava leaves contain tannins, vitamins, essential oils, guajaverin acid, and oleanolic acid, which are all beneficial to your body. To use it as body odour repellent, grind some guava leaves until smooth, boil them, then serve as a drink. Consume regularly to get rid of any unpleasant body smell.
     
  2. Cassava Leaves
    Not many people know that cassava leaves can also be used to eliminate odours. Although this type of leaf tastes a little bitter, regular consumption can lead to elimination of unpleasant body odour.
     
  3. Betel Leaves
    Betel leaf, or sirih in Bahasa Indonesia, can also work as body odour repellent. Simply boil 4 fresh betel leaves with 2 cups of water. Wait until the water boils and reduces until half. Let it rest for a while and drink it.
     
  4. Beluntas Leaves
    Beluntas leaves contain essential oils, flavonoids, tannins, and antibacterials that are useful in eradicating unpleasant body odours. You can incorporate beluntas leaves as salad in your daily menu.
     
  5. Basil Leaves
    Basil leaves have active substances with antibacterial properties that are powerful enough to combat unpleasant body odour. You can either consume basil leaves as they are, put them in your favourite drink, or include them in your meal.
     
  6. Green Tea Leaves
    Green tea leaves contain a variety of compounds in it. Among them are zinc—a natural antiseptic—essential oils, and anti-bacterial substances that are useful to tackle body odour problem. Boil 7 fresh leaves, let it rest, then consume it. Regular consumption works best!
