Tips for Fast Migraine Relief

Having migraine, especially while we have to work, is very unpleasant. The unbearable pain often inhibits our activities and we just want to rest immediately. As quoted from Step to Health webpage, migraines may be caused by various factors, such as diet, stress, blood pressure or muscle contractions. Here are several tips that may alleviate migraine effectively.

  1. Soaking feet in hot water
    When having a migraine, the head feels congested, which results in pressure and pain. One way to help relieving this pain and tension is to soak our feet in hot water (as hot as we can stand it, without scalding the skin) for 20 to 30 minutes.
     
  2. Placing lemon on the wrist
    Migraine may be alleviated by the cleansing properties of lemons. This citrus fruit can significantly reduce the body’s pH. We just have to put half a lemon on each wrist for 10 minutes. It is very easy and worth a try. In addition, drinking water with lemon juice may also help when you have migraine.
     
  3. Coffee enema
    Coffee enemas have remarkable effects on the function of liver, an organ related to migraines and many other health problems. Choose organic ground coffee beans that have not been roasted and apply it using a rubber basting tool.
    To get half a liter of enema, boil a liter of water with three tablespoons (50-60 g) of coffee. Apply the enema when it is at room temperature while lying on your right side. Try to hold it for at least for 10 minutes before repeating it again with the remaining half litre.
     
  4. Massage using essential oils
    Massage the aching areas of the face and head with a mixture of two essential oils, mint and lavender. The refreshing Mint essential oil will give us immediate relief; while the cleansing and relaxing Lavender essential oil will soothe us in fighting the migraine. You can dilute these essential oils with a little of vegetable oil, lotion, or aloe vera gel.
    Do not forget to use only pure essential oils, because many places sell synthetic essences which have no curative properties and only serve to add fragrance to the room.
     
  5. Placing clay on the abdomen
    The abdomen is a vital area that helps to balance all bodily functions. The effects of placing a clay poultice on the abdomen are anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and relaxing. Apply it anytime you want. Leave it on for at least half an hour, although it is recommended to leave it on overnight.
    When mixing the clay and water, avoid using plastic or metal containers and utensils, which can reduce some of the benefits of this treatment. Choose glass, wood, or ceramics instead.
