Pros and cons of vegan milk to replace cow’s milk

Its high nutritional value makes cow's milk good for the body. Cow’s milk is often used to complement our daily menu. Unfortunately, not everyone can enjoy the benefits of cow's milk, particularly those who have allergies or lactose intolerant.

For those who cannot enjoy cow's milk, several kinds of vegan milk also have health benefits, one of which is almond milk. Milk made from almonds is known to contain fewer saturated fats and more unsaturated fats than cow's milk. Also, its low-calorie content is beneficial for those who want to lose weight. But unfortunately, almond milk is also low in protein, which makes it not suitable to be consumed by children.

Soy milk can also be used as an alternative. Soy milk is the first vegetable milk to be used as a substitute for cow's milk. When compared with other types of vegan milk, soy milk has the highest protein content. The content of isoflavones in it can also act as anti-cancer. However, the content of phytate and oxalate in soy milk can inhibit calcium absorption in the body.

The last choice is oat milk. Not only consumed as oatmeal, oats can also be processed into milk. Compared to other vegan milk, oat milk has the highest calorie and carbohydrate content. Also, oat milk is rich in vitamin B2. Unfortunately, oat milk is not suitable for those who are gluten -intolerant.

Note: Replacing cow's milk with vegan milk requires someone to find a source of protein, calcium, vitamins, and other minerals to meet their daily nutritional needs.
