Low-fat diets improve health in women

For women, fatty foods are one thing that must be avoided. Yes, high-fat foods are considered to have adverse effects on the body, whether it's obesity or poor health. Many studies have proven that a high-fat diet can increase the risk of some types of cancer.

Knowing that, most women choose to adopt a low-fat diet that is considered better for health. This belief is now supported by the results of the latest study published in The Journal of Nutrition. The researchers found that a low-fat diet can have a positive effect on overall health, especially for women.

In their study, the researchers analysed 48,835 postmenopausal women registered in the Dietary Modification Trial (1993). As many as 40% of the total participants were asked to adopt a low-fat diet and rich in vegetables, fruits and grains. While the remaining 60% still follow their usual diet. The medical examination was carried out during the follow-up period of 8.5 to 19.6 years.

The results showed that participants who have a history of breast cancer and undergo a diet low in fat and high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains were found to have a 15-35% lower risk of death due to any cause. They also have a 13-25% lower risk of diabetes. The risk of coronary heart disease is also 15-30% lower, thanks to the low-fat diet.
