A glass of warm milk is a good choice to start your day. Not only adults, milk is also good for children. Besides being able to help maintain a healthy body, the nutrients contained in milk can also help improve the child's development.
There are several types of milk currently sold on the market, such as full cream milk, low-fat milk, and skim milk. Of those three, low-fat milk is the favourite because it is considered healthier for the body. Yes, low-fat milk does have a lower number of calories compared to full cream milk. However, not as scary as the name suggests, full cream milk is actually good for your children.
According to the results of a study conducted by St. At Michael’s Hospital, full cream milk can help reduce the risk of obesity in children. When compared with children who consume low-fat milk, those who consume full cream milk have a 40% lower risk of obesity.
In their study, the researchers analysed 28 studies from 7 different countries that discussed the relationship between the habits of children who drink cow's milk and the risk of obesity. Involving more than 20,000 children, none of the studies showed that those who consumed low-fat milk had a lower risk of obesity. Even 18 of the 28 studies found that those who drank pure milk tended not to be overweight. The results of this study have been published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
