Five food substitutions for healthy skin

Having healthy skin is everyone's dream. Besides being good for health, healthy skin can also increase your confidence. Of course, it takes some effort to have healthy skin. Not only from skin care, you can also have healthy skin by paying attention to what you eat. A high-fat diet is proven to have negative effects on skin health. As quoted from Healthline, here are some tips for replacing your favorite foods with better choices.

  1. Baked sweet potatoes instead of french fries
Who can resist the savoury and crunchy french fries? Although it tastes good, french fries are not the right choice for healthy skin because of their high fat and salt content. As a substitute, baked sweet potatoes can be the right choice. Sweet potatoes are rich in antioxidants that can fight free radicals that cause skin aging.

  2. Poultry meat instead of processed meat
Processed meat such as sausages, bacon, and pepperoni can be found in various types of food. Unfortunately, processed meat is high in sodium, sulfate and saturated fat which can make the skin dry and cause inflammation. Try to replace processed meat with poultry such as chicken or turkey which contains amino acids which help in the formation of collagen.

  3. Olive oil instead of margarine
Although it is made from vegetable oil, margarine is also high in trans fats which can make the skin more vulnerable to UV radiation, which is harmful to the skin's collagen and elasticity. Switch to olive oil, which is rich in antioxidants that act as an anti-aging agent.

  4. Fruit and yogurt instead of sweet dessert
Desserts are indeed really attractive. Unfortunately, in addition to causing several types of diseases such as diabetes, foods rich in sugar can also damage collagen. Instead of a sweet dessert, change it with a blend of fruit and yoghurt that is proven to be better for maintaining your health.

  5. Wheat bread instead of processed carbs products
Research has found that processed carbohydrate products can increase the risk of skin damage and premature aging. To avoid this, you can replace it by consuming wheat bread that is rich in antioxidants and does not contain added sugar.
