Coronavirus: Definition, symptoms and prevention

2019 was ended by a deadly virus outbreak that struck China. The outbreak was first discovered in Wuhan city. A new type of coronavirus, the virus can be spread quickly. To date, there are more than 20,000 people infected by this virus.

Coronavirus is known to infect the respiratory system. The virus can also cause severe infections such as pneumonia. Patients will usually show flu-like symptoms, such as high fever, cough, runny nose, headache, shortness of breath, and chest pain. Therefore, it is not uncommon for them to misinterpret their symptoms, which makes them too late in getting medical treatment.

Recently, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared an emergency status related to the coronavirus. Everyone has to protect themselves and do things that can help reduce the risk of infection. The small thing you can do to protect yourself is to wash your hands diligently and use a mask. As we know, viruses can be spread quickly, either through the air or in direct contact with an infected person.

In addition, for those of you who feel unwell, it is recommended to stay at home. Those who are sick have a greater risk of infection compared to those who are healthy. This is because their immune system is weaker, making it easy for them to be infected by viruses or bacteria that cause other diseases.
