Some tips for boosting your immune system

Most people think that the rainy season is synonymous with a higher risk of flu. Erratic weather and air temperature, coupled with the number of daily activities that must be done may weaken our immune system. Having a good immune system can certainly help the body to prevent the growth of viruses, bacteria, or other microorganisms that can cause diseases. Here are some ways you can do to boost your immune system:

  1. Get enough sleep. According to experts, everyone is recommended to have at least 7 hours of sleep every day. In a study conducted by the University of Washington, sleep has a significant relationship with the immune system. Someone who lacks sleep, when exposed to the virus, will get sick more easily when compared to those who have enough sleep.
  2. Regular exercise. It is known that regular exercise can provide a good effect on the health of the body. Besides that, regular exercise can also improve the immune system of the body. Experts explain that 30 minutes of exercise can increase the circulation of natural killer cells, namely white blood cells and other immune systems.
  3. Having a healthy diet. A healthy diet can help maintain your immune system and microbial life in your body. Consuming lots of vegetables and fruits is indeed highly recommended to maintain a healthy body. Studies find that micronutrient deficiencies (iron, volatile acids, vitamins A, B6, C and E) can affect the performance of the immune system in animals. Experts further explained that someone who is malnourished proved to be more vulnerable to disease.
  4. Consumption of multivitamin supplements. Vitamin deficiency can be fatal for the body. Vitamins B, C, D, and zinc are vitamins and minerals that play an important role in the immune system. Consuming multivitamin supplements is one way that you can do to prevent these deficiencies.
  5. Maintaining stress levels. Stress is known to have a negative impact on the health of the body, including being able to reduce the body's immune system. According to research conducted by Ohio State University, psychological stress is known to affect the immune system by interfering with communication between the nervous system, endocrine system and the immune system in the body. Doing activities such as vacation or just watching a comedy series can be a way to reduce your stress level.
