DASH diet to reduce the risk of hypertension and heart failure

A good diet can indeed help you maintain your overall body health. There is even an expression that says "you are what you eat" in the sense that if you want to be healthy, then you must have a good diet.

In the previous article, it was stated that a good diet could reduce the risk of heart failure for those who prefer foods such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, and fish. This finding is supported by the results of a recent study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine recently. The article stated that based on the results of the study, a diet high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, fish, vegetable oils, and other fat-free foods could reduce the risk of heart failure for those under 75 years old.

At first, the diet is recommended by experts for people with hypertension. The diet, that is often referred to as a DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet has been promoted as part of a lifestyle that can help lower blood pressure and bad cholesterol in the body. In this study, the DASH diet was found to also reduce the risk of heart failure by 40%. The researchers explained that the DASH diet was more effective in reducing the risk of heart failure compared to existing drugs.

The results were found after the researchers analysed 4,478 participants aged 45-84 years in 2000-2002, where each participant was known to have no previous history of heart-related disease. Participants were asked to fill out questionnaires related to their diet.
