Vegetarian VS Vegan

Vegetables are famous for their health benefits. These “filled with nutrition” food are popular within the group who called themselves Vegetarian or Vegan. Talking about vegetarians and vegans, did you know that those two have different characteristics? Here’s the explanation.

Vegetarian

According to the explanation that has been acquired from the Vegetarian Society, a vegetarian doesn’t consume certain foods, such as meat, poultry products, fishery products, clams, also side products from butchered livestock. These people live by consuming vegetables, wheat, beans, seeds, fruits, and also mushrooms.

Vegetarian itself is divided into four types, lacto-ovo-vegetarians, who still consume dairy products and eggs, while lacto-vegetarians, dairy products without eggs. The opposite of this, ovo-vegetarians would rather choose to consume eggs, but not dairy products. Different from the others, vegans choose not to consume eggs, dairy products, or animal derivative products.

Vegan

In contrast to a vegetarian, a vegan rather not consume any products that are animal-based, food, or sometimes even clothes. People who are categorised as vegans believe that every animal has the right to be free from exploitation by humans, from being made into a feast, clothes, research material, or even for fun.

Consuming more vegetables and fruits is well known to make people healthier if it’s compared to those who consume more meats. So, which one describes you better? Vegetarian or Vegan?
